Description;; Ashleigh is short for her age, but being a jockey, she's supposed to be short. Standing at just four feet eleven inches, Ash is a lot shorter than most of her fellow riders and weighs just ninety pounds. The girl has long blonde hair, ending just four inches below her shoulder blades. She has bright blue eyes, almost like the color of a pure iceberg in the middle of an Antarctic winter. Her skin is always tanned, from her hours of laying out in the sun, even on the days she raced. Ashleigh was born three months premature, which explains why she's so small. But she doesn't let that stop her. Indeed, she does get sick often, but again, that doesn't bother her. She goes out and fights her way with a thousand pound animal through tight spots, gets bumped and sometimes falls, but she always gets right back up and hops right back on another horse. The trainers love her.
History;; Ashleigh Marie Reese was born in the wee hours of March 8, 1993 to Allison Griffen and Mike Reese. As is the case, her mother is a famous trainer, so she kept her maiden name when she got married. Ashleigh took her father's name. Growing up, Ash was never found far away from the barn, unless you count school. When she turned eighteen, Ashleigh got her big break when she rode a son of her mother's favorite mare. The colt's name was Wonder's Star. Together, the pair ran in the Kentucky Derby, finishing last. Two weeks later in the Preakness, the pair finished third, thanks to a disqualification of a fellow runner. Three weeks later, the colt got his big break and won the Belmont Stakes. Star was shelved the rest of the year with a knee injury, but Ash's luck had changed for the better. Her father, having seen something in a colt, privately purchased a seemingly crazy horse named Hy Jynx. The horse, now running under new connections, was ridden by Ashleigh in two starts before the end of his two-year-old season and won both. But a switch to a new jockey for two starts as a three-year-old showed that the colt truly fit with Ashleigh. After a switch to a new trainer, recently employed by Whitebrook Farm, who was owned by her parents, Ashleigh and Jynx both fit in well with George, who would later become Ashleigh's fiancee. However, before she met George, Ashleigh was involved with Hy Jynx's new race manager, Jazz Cook. They actually got engaged but Ash was only 17 at the time and her parents didn't think it was a good idea, so the pair broke it off. They've become great friends and partners since then and in fact, Jazz is dating Ash's cousin, Melanie and is having a baby with her. Life truly does come full circle.
